NOT GUILTY – AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON

May 21, 2012

Reeves County, Texas.  State of Texas v. PL.  Client/Defendant was indicted in state court for stabbing another inmate while in federal custody.  This incident was a pre-emptive action to prevent a “hit” that was ordered on Client/Defendant after he had been threatened numerous times by a rival gang member while in custody.  The defense argued self-defense at trial based upon previous threats and attempts to “jump” the Client, and the testimony of a gang expert.  The jury returned its verdict of not guilty.
